Karen Suderman, Principal Artist
Karen Suderman has enjoyed being a professional artist and decorative painter since 2001. “I love the process of creating a work of art as much as helping a space achieve its full potential. It’s fun painting murals and creating unique finishes for clients with distinctive tastes — it’s a glimpse into their creativity,” she says.
Suderman started a decorative finishing business and opened an art gallery in Austin, Texas before planting roots in the D.C. area. Now at home with O’Neill studios, she enjoys the collaborative atmosphere. “The combined experience and strengths within O’Neill Studios is energizing to me. As a team, we’re definitely better than the sum of our parts.”
Suderman’s fine artwork belongs to private collections in Texas, New York and Alaska. Her favorite mediums are oil on canvas and acrylic fresco on marble dust panel. Karen’s abstract work has been described as “contemplative and sensuous.” “My themes include, the familiarity of rhythm, the unveiling of beauty, the connection within lines. Eternity compels me; I’m not interested in recreating something, but uncovering it.”
